Abstract

  • In March 2023, the level of income inequality in Banten Province as measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.368. This figure decreased by 0.009 points compared to the September 2022 Gini Ratio and increased compared to the March 2022 Gini Ratio of 0.001.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2023 was recorded at 0.372, a decrease compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2022 which was 0.384 and an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 which was 0.367.
  • The Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2023 was recorded at 0.256, down from the Gini Ratio in September 2022 which was 0.266 and the Gini Ratio in March 2022 which was 0.287.
  • Based on the World Bank's inequality measure, the distribution of expenditure in the bottom 40 percent group is 19.00 percent. This means that population spending in March 2023 is in the category of low inequality. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure was recorded at 18.78 percent, which means it belongs to the low inequality category. Meanwhile for rural areas, the figure was recorded at 24.46 percent, which means it belongs to the low inequality category.
